There is too much information online for a single person to collect, and given the Web 2.0 tools offered by social bookmarking services like Diigo, gathering online resources is no longer a solitary activity that reaches only a handful of people.

What is social bookmarking?

In a nutshell, social bookmarking allows people to store bookmarks online, organize them with whatever tags they find useful, and share them with friends, colleagues, and the rest of the world. The slide show by Dr. Mario Nuñez below answers this question much more completely, and shows the technologies and paradigms that make social bookmarking such a powerful research and community building tool.
