Congratulations to everyone — students, coaches, parents, sponsors and The U.S. Department of Energy staff — who participated in the 2007 Solar Decathlon! While some teams finished ahead of others, every person who took up the challenge of the 2007 Solar Decathlon succeeded in meeting the competition’s larger goal: the promotion and advancement of solar energy. BP is proud to support this event as it continues to fulfill the promise of solar power.
Evolving into a society that embraces the use of alternative energies is the challenge of our lifetime, and BP is committed to furthering that evolution. Supporting the Solar Decathlon is one part of this larger commitment. Not only does BP operate BP Solar, a global company focused on harnessing the sun’s energy to produce solar electricity, but the company funds projects that harness wind, natural gas, and hydrogen power as well. I don’t know if this has been addressed or is being pondered by event organizers. But I can report that it’s being pondered by […]

Technische Universität Darmstadt
In a not too surprising finish, the German team won both the Engineering contest and locked up the win for the 2007 Solar Decathlon.
In 2nd place, the hometown favorite: The University of Maryland
In 3rd place, the Cinderella story from California: Santa Clara University
I’ll post more details later with full scores and standings.
