Policies, Procedures, and Installation Instructions
Printer Use Policies:
- The ETC printer is available to English Department:
- administration
- faculty
- teaching assistants
- graduate and undergraduate students
- It should be used for printing jobs related to department business, that is:
letters, memos, exams, quizzes, essays, and other materials related to the
English Department. - The ETC printer must be used for short print jobs only.
- The ETC printer is not a substitute for a photocopy machine. Replacing toner
cartridges is significantly more expensive and time-consuming than for a
photocopy machine. - Violations of the ETC Printer Use Policies will result in suspension of
printer privileges.
Instructions for Printer Use:
- Send print job from your computer or go to the ETC to print the document.
- Go to the ETC and pick up print job from ETC staff.
- Sign the Printer Use Log.
Printer Installation Instructions for Windows
Computers:
- Open “Control Panel” in the Windows Start Menu.
- Open “Printers”.
- Click on “Add a Printer”, which will activate a “wizard” to guide you
through the process. - Select the option to “connect to a network printer”.
- Select the option to “browse for printers”.
- After a list of printers and networks loads, select “WORKGROUP”.
- After a list of computers under WORKGROUP loads, select “ETC_PRINT_SERVER”.
- Select “HP Universal Printing” under ETC_PRINT_SERVER.
- Enter the username and password.
- The server will ask you to install a printer driver onto your computer,
allow it. - Once the driver has been installed, follow the final steps the wizard offers
to its conclusion. - That’s it, your computer should have access to the ETC LaserJet Printer.
Printer Installation Instructions for Apple
Computers:
- Click on Command-P or go to the File menu and select “Print.”
- Select “Edit printer list.”
- Select “Add a printer” and “Windows printing” from the pull down menu.
- Locate under “WORKGROUP” the computer “ETC_PRINT_SERVER” and “HP LaserJ”
- Enter the username and password.
- Follow any final steps that might be required.
- That’s it, your computer should have access to the ETC LaserJet Printer.
