Recientemente leí un articulo que decía que la mitad de todos los programas de computadora o “software” utilizados en Puerto Rico eran “pirateados” o mejor dicho se estaban utilizando sin licencias. Esto para mi es una cifra muy alarmante. El problema con esto es que basar la tecnología de un país en tecnología que se esta usando ilegalmente obviamente no es sustentable ni deseable. También si deseamos convertir nuestra economía a una basada en la tecnología e información debemos aprender a respetar los derechos de autor. Es verdad que nosotros criticamos mucho el estado actual de las leyes de derechos de autor. Pero eso no significa que en principio estemos en contra de ellas. Por eso propongo que todos los puertorriqueños que esten utilizando programas sin licencias se muevan a un sistema libre y de codigo abierto como Ubuntu Linux. Asi van a poder tener todo los programas que deseen sin gastar un solo centavos y pueden hacer todas las copias que quieran y compartirlos por torrents y va a ser todo perfectamente legal.
