Dr. Moises Orengo-Aviles is a graduate of Brown University at Providence, Rhode Island, where he earned his doctoral degree in physics. He holds the rank of professor of physics at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez. He has broad administrative experience, having served as Assistant Director and Associate Director of the Department of Physics, Director of the Center for Professional Enhancement, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Research of the College of Arts and Sciences, Interim Dean of the College, and Dean since February 2003. Until November 2009 he was the appointed Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
He has been distinguished by his publications and proposals related to the field of educational research. Orengo-Aviles was born in Yauco, Puerto Rico, he is the son of Diego Orengo-Torres and Delfina Aviles-Galarza (qepd) and the penultimate of 12 siblings.
