Goodbye World

This is not a suicide note! :-)

The time has come to say farewell to this blog, my homepage for the past 6 years.

Fortunately, this ending leads to a new beginning in my new blog: leonardoflores.net.

For a brief narrative of the goals, design, and purpose for this blog, including reasons for ending it, read “Hello World 2.0.”

Even though this blog’s entries live on in the new blog, this space will remain as an archive, frozen in time for however long Edublogs is maintained and as long as it doesn’t pose a security risk.

Recent Developments in I ♥ E-Poetry

I have three announcements concerning my scholarly blog:

  • I ♥ E-Poetry was the 1st runner up in the 2012 DH Awards in the “Best DH Blog, Article, or Short Publication” category.
  • I am happy to announce that I ♥ E-Poetry now has an advisory board, consisting of three prestigious members of the electronic literature community: Kathi Inman Berens, Alan Bigelow, and Mark Marino.
  • I have added Google Custom Search functionality to the blog, so readers can explore the growing database further.

Availability for Lectures in Electronic Literature in European Union

As a US Fulbright Scholar, I am available to offer lectures in my expertise in 24 European countries that participate in the Fulbright Intercountry Lecturers Program: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovak Republic, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, and the UK.

If you are interested in inviting me to give a presentation, talk, lecture, or participate in a conference, please contact me to discuss dates and logistics.

I will be available from December 2012 until June 2013.

Leonardo Flores, Fulbright Scholar

Today, I received official notification that I have been awarded a 2012-13 Fulbright Scholarship to participate in the Digital Culture program at the University of Bergen in Norway. This is a 10-month teaching/research award in which I will teach 3 courses during the academic year and dedicate the rest of my time to research. You can read a copy of my proposal here.

Macromedia / Adobe Director PAD (Preservation, Access, Dissemination)

I’m interested in developing a critical edition of a work of electronic literature titled Arteroids (http://vispo.com/arteroids). This is an important work of electronic literature, written by Canadian poet and multimedia artist Jim Andrews initially with Macromedia Director 8 and later with upgraded versions up until reaching Adobe Director MX 2004 (version 10.1).
